Hello! Welcome to my little space of the interweb. My name is Julia, a Charleston native (born and raised) and currently residing in Atlanta (going on 13 years). My entire family is still in Charleston so I am there often doing tourist things. Say Hi if you see me!
I was inspired to create a Style Education blog when I noticed a void in the market.
I’ve seen a lot of “Hey, I’m wearing a new outfit everyday, you should buy it” blogs but not any ladies showing you how to transition your favorite jumpsuit Spring to Summer to Fall or the value of Cost per Wear. Not saying there aren’t teaching posts or blogs out there, I just haven’t seen them. While I LOVE and appreciate the inspiration from seeing a new outfit everyday as much as the next person, it’s not realistic in our day to day lives. We need to know how to create a bomb wardrobe that consists of 20 core quality pieces so we can save up for that new home down payment, our children’s education* or so we can splurge on that dream bag we’ve been eyeing.
*** I don’t have any children but I’ve heard they’re expensive and cut back your personal wardrobe budget 😉
Why am I qualified to tell you to let that Forever 21 shawl go and that it’s okay to spend $100 on jeans? … $150 if you’re feeling froggy!
Well, I have over 15 years fashion retail experience. I have worked as a sales associate, in store management roles but the majority of the past 10 years I’ve worked as a Merchandise Coordinator. In addition, I earned my Bachelors in Fashion Marketing. Yes, I am formally educated in style and shopping!
Most people aren’t familiar with the Merchandise Coordinator position even those in retail so I’ll further explain why I’m able to snap shopping pix all day while I’m at work. As a merchandise coordinator my role is to visit department stores on behalf of brands to not only ensure the product is properly placed and merchandised to grab the attention of shoppers but to also educate the store staff on the brands product. I have traveled all over the United States to represent said brands, I’m just that dope! As a merchandise coordinator I have worked for many brands including Tommy Hilfiger, Cynthia Steffe, Kenneth Cole, John Varvatos, Colombia Sportswear and Nike to name a few. I have represented these brands at every department store on the east coast including Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bloomindales, Macys, Dillards and even Dicks Sporting Goods.
In addition to my professional experience I also watched What Not to Wear every Friday night in college while eating frozen pizza (Kroger brand CPK BBQ Chicken knock off) while organizing my closet. Hey, Stacy and Clinton taught me so much, but really!
While I’ll absolutely be showing you what’s new in the fashion world, hello, I LOVE to shop!!! I’ll also share all of my knowledge with you so that you are able to take something away and utilize it while you’re out on your next shopping trip or staring at your closet trying to get inspired.
