DRESS | HANDBAG | SUNGLASSES | SIMILAR SANDALS | LOWERCASE INITIAL NECKLACE
Y’all, this dress was a HUGE score, HUGE! Back Story, one of my friends works for Alternative Apparel and for years she’s shared on FB their semi-annual warehouse sales. For years I’ve checked the “Interested” box and for years I never made it. Either, I was out of town, working or it wasn’t in the budget. A couple of months ago she posted the event on FB, again I checked “interested” put a reminder in my phone then forgot about it.
FYI: Everything at the sale is $5, $10 or $15 so it’s a great opportunity to stock up on sweats, basic t’s and sweatshirts, lounge wear, etc…
TBH, June and the beginning of July were just very rough months for me personally , professionally and beyond. Because of this I wrote a self care check list and one of those items was to try something new a week / do something I keep putting off. After completely forgetting about the sale I woke up Saturday morning SUPER early (for no reason) but was ready to seize the day when I remembered that it was the day of the Alternative Apparel Warehouse Sale and had enough time to slide by Starbucks and still get there as the doors opened. So, that’s what I did.
I put the address in Waze, slide through my fave Sbux drive (Iced Doppio, 2 pumps of classic, a splash of coconut milk in a tall cup) and arrived at the Warehouse sale an hour after the doors opened. I walked in with no intentions of buying anything specific, maybe a cute sweatsuit if I’m lucky and that’s when I saw it. Front and center (perfect merchandising for a hot item) was one very small rolling rack of Champion with 2 sweatshirt dresses; one in pink, one in grey, both a size Medium (that’s MY size). As you may know I LIVE for a sweatshirt dress, I actually wore one to the sale so I picked both dresses up and didn’t even need to look at the other 30 something industrial sized rolling racks they add. I mean, I did, but I didn’t need to.
Now, I thought the dresses were $15 so originally I was going to buy them both but after learning 3rd party vendors were $20 I decided now was the perfect time to adult and pick one. Yes, $5 kept me from buying both. I was sticking to my budget and wanted to get a few other things. After going over the 3 grey sweatshirt dresses already in my closet (including the one I was wearing at the time) I decided to go with my signature pink and I’m so glad I did.
This was an especially good score for me because I’ve been wanting some Champion sweats as all things retro is on trend and it’s literally what I wore when it was originally in style. So, to find Champion sweats in the form of a dress in my signature color was the ultimate shopping high and I love a good shopping high especially after such a challenging month.
I was able to link this dress for you guys however, it’s not $20, it’s regular price. It’s so soft and cozy and I know I’ll be wearing it for years so to me it’s worth it. I’m thinking of layering the dress with a long sleeve tee in white or pink with sneakers once the weather gets cooler.
