HOODIE | SIMILAR LEGGINGS | SNEAKERS | JACKET | SIMILAR HANDBAG | SUNGLASSES | HOOP EARRINGS
Anyone who has been here before knows I love a good pink. I love a good pink so much when I saw these pink Puma sneakers I didn’t even realize they were neon, they were just pink to me. SN: I also realized after purchasing and wearing these sneakers that the style is similar to the Balenciaga sneakers that seem to be popular right now.
When I saw these sneakers I had to have them! Originally, I saw them in store and immediately fell in love. I didn’t purchase as they were $80 and I wasn’t ready to spend that $ on more sneakers as I literally purchased vans the week prior. Fast forward a few days and I’m at the mall with a friend who I made come with me into the store to visit the sneakers. When I showed the sneakers to my friend their response was, “Do you really think you’ll wear those?” YES, BITCH I DO! My actual response was, “ugh, have you met me?” See my friend isn’t as loud and ra-ra with their fashion choices as I am and well, the sneakers shocked my friend.
After the second visit with my would be sneakers I stalked them online (again, because you know that’s the first thing I did the first time I saw them). While searching online I found them for $70 at Champs and $60 at Foot Locker and Lady Foot Locker. These were the only 3 stores I could find them. So I did what any shopaholic would do and I put them in my cart at all 3 stores and stalked my shopping carts making sure sizes weren’t selling out. As you may know I put myself on a shopping budget and because I kept seeing shit I wanted my budget had depleted and I was waiting for the re-up. Now, this was right before Christmas so items were selling and random promo sales would pop up so I was prepared to purchase but I was trying to effectively adult and stick to the budget.
Then, Lady Foot Locker had 20% off with any purchase of $75 or more + Free Shipping. To which I responded, BET! My sneakers were only $60 and by finding something for $15-$20 I could pretty much get the second item free. Long story short I found a yellow Adidas crop tank that put me right at $75 and with both items my total was $63. And I did not effectively adult by waiting until my budget re-upped but I do have a jump start on my Spring and Summer wardrobe.
HOW TO PLAY WITH TRENDS WITHOUT OVERSPENDING
Under any circumstance do I ever recommend splurging on a trend, NEVER EVER! Unless you like wiping your a** with your money then of course, throw your money away girl. This is a judgement free zone so you do you.
Now every persons idea of splurging and budget is different. Personally, if it’s a trend or style I’m trying out for the first time $20 – $30 is as much as I will spend. You may be wondering why that’s my trend spending range and I just told you I spent $50 on neon pink sneakers. To answer your question, these sneakers aren’t that neon (to me) that I would consider them super trendy. Now you may feel differently, that’s the great thing about fashion, it’s subjective. For you and probably a lot of people these sneakers are insanely loud and as neon as you can get. However, for me these are just another loud bright ass pink item I own. They fall in line with my personal style, the same personal style I’ve had all my life therefore after the trend is over I will still wear them. Others may not but I will.
On the other hand, I did buy a neon pink sweater from my current fave, Miss Guided and it was $20. Let me tell you, IT IS NEON! I will not be carrying it forward past the trend. I’ll wear it a few times and sell or donate it during a change of season closet purge.
If you enjoy playing with trends and you have a solid foundation wardrobe I think it’s 100% okay to buy a trendy piece here and there to have fun with. But these are the items you want to spend $30 or less on. Now, if your budget is higher and you don’t mind spending a little more on trends or you’re in love with a style you’re going to wear every day that trend is popping and you want a bit better quality I’m cutting you off at $50.
Budgetnista’s spend $30 or less
Ballin’ on Budget ladies spend $50 or less
You can always find trendy at fast fashion spots. My current favorite is Miss Guided, their quality is really good for the prices. If you’re in the US shipping does take 2 weeks or so because it’s coming from the UK and customs …. *rolls eyes* lol
A few other fast fashion shops to check out when shopping trends …
- H&M
- Forever 21 (this is a last resort for me, the quality and refund policy are both terrible)
- Miss Guided
- Pretty Little Thing (I haven’t ordered from them but I’m pretty sure it’s the same people that own Miss Guided)
- TopShop (if you want to spend a little more)
- Zara (can be pricey and the quality doesn’t always match the price but they always have gems you just have to find them)
- Target! Yes, our fave always has a trend or two.
- Amazon (Some places are sketch in quality so you have to read reviews and it takes foreverrrrr to find items because there’s so much to look through)
