In todays video and in all photos I’m wearing the newest necklace added to my shop, shopjuliamarie.com, the CHUNKY NAME NECKLACE. It has a chunky Gourmette Chain close to the same width as the nameplate making it a great statement piece. It is absolutely my favorite of the moment! It comes in both gold or silver and you can have it made in any chain length between 14″ and 20″. Mine is on a 16″ chain which is the most popular length.

MY #1 SHOPPING RULE: THE RULE OF 5
A RULE I CREATED TO BE MORE INTENTIONAL WITH MY PURCHASES TO HELP STRETCH MY SHOPPING BUDGET TO IT’S MAXIMUM CAPACITY
WHO ELSE HAS BOUGHT A NEW TOP BECAUSE YOU “LOVED IT SO MUCH” THEN MONTHS LATER IT STILL HASN’T BEEN WORN?
We’ve all been there! There has been a time in our life we’ve walked in our closet looking for something to wear only to be reminded of the items we purchased but still haven’t worn, tags still attached and all.
When we make impulse purchases we end up with a closet of one offs that we only have one other item to wear with it, if even that.
When we make impulse purchases we end up with a closet full of clothes yet still have NOTHING to wear. WHY are we like this?!
In 2013, after losing 20lbs, purging 90% of my closet and only having a clothing budget of $150 a month I was in desperate need of a high functioning wardrobe. That is when, why and how I created my #1 shopping rule, The Rule of 5.
I knew in order to still buy quality pieces I loved I was going to have to get creative (and disciplined) and that’s exactly what I did. Every single purchase I made for the following year was well thought out and 100% intentional. I had no room for impulse purchases, the function of my wardrobe couldn’t afford it.
I bet you don’t like throwing your money away, do you?
We all deserve to hit our financial goals (and best wardrobes) and a great starting point is to become more intentional with what we spend our money on.
I want you to be great in everything you do so I wrote a 24 page book to fully share The Rule of 5 with you. There’s even worksheets for you to brainstorm your goal wardrobe!
Just enter your email below for your FREE Rule of 5 guide to get started on your best wardrobe yet!
If you need more help building your wardrobe my e-book, Build Your Dream Wardrobe on a Budget is a great tool. The 12 steps I take when planning and shopping for my wardrobes each season is covered in detail with examples for you. These are the steps I take to ensure each purchase is intentional, it’s also the strategy I used to budget to purchase my first Louis Vuitton handbag. In fact, The Rule of 5 is one of the 12 steps in the e-book.
5 WAYS TO STYLE SLOUCHY JEANS
FEATURE JEANS
I purchased both the regular and petite lengths. Neither came in my TTS so I went one size up in both as they are already oversized so being “too” big was less of a concern than being too snug.
The petite length is 28″, my legs are short so the length on the petite were perfect as was the waist. There’s a little extra room in the waist but I’d say they fit well even though I went up a size. However, the regular length one size up were huge. I was swimming in them.
These jeans have become my favorite and what I reach for the most at this moment. They’re perfect for Summer as they are loose fitting and high waisted so they won’t stick to your skin when it’s hot and they’re perfect for crop tops without showing stomach.
LOOK ONE
HOODIE: This is one of my favorite sweatshirts, it’s a slight crop and a little shrunken but still roomy. It’s great quality and runs TTS.

SANDALS: Out of all my sandals these are my favorite, they are a bit of a splurge if you don’t spend much on sandals which I know some people don’t especially if you’re in a cooler climate. I’m in the South so we can wear sandals 9 months out of the year so I get my wears worth. Going up a size is recommend, half size. I bought mine last Summer, wore them a few days a week for 5 months straight and they still look new this season.
HANDBAG (in video): Another Amazon designer dupe find! This is a Chanel bookbag dupe, it’s great quality for the price and does have the one silver, one gold chain straps. I do recommend it!
LOOK TWO
TUNIC: This is a great oversized tunic if oversized is your thing. I envision it worn over short shorts, straight cut jeans or even leggings. I bought my TTS, you can absolutely size down. My exact style is sold out but I linked an updated version from the same brand.

SANDALS: These are newbies to the team this season. They’re a dupe for the Valentino Rockstuds. I’m obsessed with nude sandals with studs so these were a no brainer. I usually wear an 8 or 8.5, these are an 8 and they are a little snug width wise. I think an 8.5 would have fit better but they do seem to be stretching a teeny tiny bit.
CLUTCH: A Summer 2019 purchase, this is a great clutch to wear with staple pieces on a night or brunch out or to use as a smaller bag to throw into your larger tote. It’s excellent quality.
LOOK THREE
SHIRT: This shirt sells out as quick as it comes in stock so if you luck up and find it in stock, purchase it!! It is oversized so you can go down a size and it should work just as well as your TTS. It’s super soft and great quality.

SHOES: These are great sturdy shoe that are very versatile. They are comfortable and easy to walk in. I bought mine two summers ago but there is an updated version I think for you. I found they run TTS.
LOOK FOUR
TOP: I feel so bad sharing this top because I know so many people like it and it’s a few years old, sold out and I can’t find anything similar. I got it 3 years ago, it was a part of a 2 piece skirt set from SheIn. … that’s the best I can do, sorryyy!

SANDALS: These have been a favorite of mine for 2 summers now, they’re fun, colorful and add that perfect POP of summer to a classic look. They come in 30 different fruits/colors and run TTS. I have both the Lemon and Peach jellies.
LOOK FIVE
BODYSUIT: The infamous Zara bodysuit *praise hands* there is a reason everyone owns it,
BRA: because I got so many questions about what bra I’m wearing I want to share with you guys. I’m wearing The Incredible from Victoria’s Secret. I have their strapless and wear the push up version, it is literally the only bra style I’ve worn in the past 10 years.
For my first strapless bra I went into VS and asked for their best strapless bra and got put on at an early age so I didn’t know women struggled to find a seamless bra. I was so confused as to why people were asking about my bra, I was just replying with, “a strapless bra” because I had no idea why they were asking. I thought maybe they forgot a strapless bra was an option haha!
I wanted to find out why people kept asking so I could answer the question better and was genuinely curious, maybe they know something I don’t? It opened up a conversation on Instagram about how tough it is to find a good bra, I hadn’t had that struggle because I found good bras for me at such an early age and stuck with them. Now that I know why I’m asked about my bra I’m happy to share better more through details so you can have a comfortable seamless bra too!

HANDBAG: I found this gem last Summer on Amazon, it’s an Hermes dupe so they go really fast. I was unable to find the bag in the same quality so I linked a similar style … look at similar options in the bar below to see if the style I have pops up, if so, I have the Large size.
SANDALS: These jellies reminded me of a pair of Guiseppe Zanotti sandals that I love. If you haven’t noticed I’m very into this peachy pink nude lately. I’d say the sandals run TTS but they are a jelly sandal so they will stretch with wear.
NAIL POLISH: I’m very into this peach nude lately, it has a nice pink undertone and is my perfect winter complexion then in the Summer when my skin is darker this color is a nice POP against it. I’ve been looking for my perfect nude and I think I’ve found it. While I do have the direct link just in case the color is OPI: Stop it, I’m Blushing.
I first found this shade while getting a mani/pedi then purchased my own bottle during quarantine so I could paint my nails. Now that I’m able to get a professional mani/pedi I just bring my own bottle for my pedi so I don’t have to worry about if they have the color or not.
