In todays video and in all photos I’m wearing the newest necklace added to my shop, shopjuliamarie.com, the SCRIPT NAME NECKLACE. It has a a fine feminine font making it a great chic everyday piece. It is absolutely my favorite of the moment! It comes in both gold or ROSE and you can have it made in any chain length between 14″ and 20″. Mine is on a 16″ chain which is the most popular length.

MY #1 SHOPPING RULE: THE RULE OF 5
A RULE I CREATED TO BE MORE INTENTIONAL WITH MY PURCHASES TO HELP STRETCH MY SHOPPING BUDGET TO IT’S MAXIMUM CAPACITY
WHO ELSE HAS BOUGHT A NEW TOP BECAUSE YOU “LOVED IT SO MUCH” THEN MONTHS LATER IT STILL HASN’T BEEN WORN?
We’ve all been there! There has been a time in our life we’ve walked in our closet looking for something to wear only to be reminded of the items we purchased but still haven’t worn, tags still attached and all.
When we make impulse purchases we end up with a closet of one offs that we only have one other item to wear with it, if even that.
When we make impulse purchases we end up with a closet full of clothes yet still have NOTHING to wear. WHY are we like this?!
In 2013, after losing 20lbs, purging 90% of my closet and only having a clothing budget of $150 a month I was in desperate need of a high functioning wardrobe. That is when, why and how I created my #1 shopping rule, The Rule of 5.
I knew in order to still buy quality pieces I loved I was going to have to get creative (and disciplined) and that’s exactly what I did. Every single purchase I made for the following year was well thought out and 100% intentional. I had no room for impulse purchases, the function of my wardrobe couldn’t afford it.
I bet you don’t like throwing your money away, do you?
We all deserve to hit our financial goals (and best wardrobes) and a great starting point is to become more intentional with what we spend our money on.
I want you to be great in everything you do so I wrote a 24 page book to fully share The Rule of 5 with you. There’s even worksheets for you to brainstorm your goal wardrobe!

If you need more help building your wardrobe my e-book, Build Your Dream Wardrobe on a Budget is a great tool. The 12 steps I take when planning and shopping for my wardrobes each season is covered in detail with examples for you. These are the steps I take to ensure each purchase is intentional, it’s also the strategy I used to budget to purchase my first Louis Vuitton handbag. In fact, The Rule of 5 is one of the 12 steps in the e-book.
FEATURE SHOES
If you didn’t catch on last Summer, Dad Sandals are trending. It was a super hard pass for me last year but after seeing them so many times on others I warmed up enough to them I was willing to play with the trend.
Anytime you try a new style out whether it’s a classic or a trending piece I always recommend to find something super affordable, under $40 is my price point for that. A few of my favorite affordable stores that are guaranteed to have trending pieces are; H&M, Target (they’re usually behind on styles though), Zara, ASOS and Amazon (if you’re a good search engine user).
I found the affordable faux leather Dad Sandals featured in today’s post at Target for only $30. They run big, a half size down should fit perfect. They’re wide as well.

LOOK ONE
JUMPSUIT: This denim coverall is a top 10 purchase for the season. It’s lightweight and soft, while soft it doesn’t have tons of stretch. Instead of it molding to your body, your body will just have to mold to it because of this it does pull in the hips and thighs for me as that is the largest part of my body. It does run TTS.
SANDALS: these were purchased this season to play around with a fun trend this Summer. They run big and wide but are super comfortable.
LOOK TWO
SIMILAR DRESS: The dress I’m wearing was purchased last Winter from H&M, it sold out in 3 days as all the good sweatshirt dresses do. I linked a similar option for you.
SANDALS: these were purchased this season to play around with a fun trend this Summer. They run big and wide but are super comfortable.
LOOK THREE
SWEATSHIRT: This is one of my favorite sweatshirts, it is great quality and structure. The hoodie version isn’t available so I linked the crewneck version, I own and love both.
SHORTS: I’ve been looking for a mid thigh short for years and finally found a pair. These run TTS and have great stretch.
SANDALS: these were purchased this season to play around with a fun trend this Summer. They run big and wide but are super comfortable.
LOOK FOUR
SHIRT: The shoulder pad t-shirt is a must have style right now. I bought three different brands before I found the perfect one meaning good quality without spending $80 for The Frankie Shop version.
The first version of this shirt I bought was The Frankie Shop version and while it was excellent quality the cut of the shirt was a straight up and down rectangle. Because of the cut and the stiffness in the shirt it was tight in the lower waist/hip area. For $80 I need it to be perfect (for me) and it wasn’t so I went back to the drawing board.
The version I ended up with (pictured) is only $20 from Zara. It fits TTS and comes in black too. It runs out of stock so sign up for the inventory alert list.
JEANS: These are the Levi’s Wedgie jeans, I bought this was last January. I did go a size up, while they gap a little bit in the waist they just fit in the butt, hips and thighs.

LOOK FIVE
TANK: I’m wearing an oldie from a few years ago from Express, I linked a similar one for you.
JEANS: These are my current favorite jeans, fits TTS. They have pretty much sold out but I’m hoping for restocks.
SANDALS: these were purchased this season to play around with a fun trend this Summer. They run big and wide but are super comfortable.
SUNGLASSES: I really want the popular aviators from Quay but they’ve been sold out in the colorway I want so Amazon Prime hooked me up with these.
