We’ve all been there! There has been a time in our life we’ve walked in our closet looking for something to wear only to be reminded of the items we purchased but still haven’t worn, tags still attached and all.
When we make impulse purchases we end up with a closet of one offs that we only have one other item to wear with it, if even that.
When we make impulse purchases we end up with a closet full of clothes yet still have NOTHING to wear. WHY are we like this?!
In 2013, after losing 20lbs, purging 90% of my closet and only having a clothing budget of $150 a month I was in desperate need of a high functioning wardrobe. That is when, why and how I created my #1 shopping rule, The Rule of 5.
I knew in order to still buy quality pieces I loved I was going to have to get creative (and disciplined) and that’s exactly what I did. Every single purchase I made for the following year was well thought out and 100% intentional. I had no room for impulse purchases, the function of my wardrobe couldn’t afford it.

We all deserve to hit our financial goals (and best wardrobes) and a great starting point is to become more intentional with what we spend our money on.

These are the Ribcage style from Levi’s, this exact pair is old/sold out but I’ve linked updated styles. I size up in all my Levi’s.
While this pair came with a raw hem, I did cut them to be a better length for me.
BUM BAG
After using a $20 bum bag all Summer I decided to splurge on this MCM style for Fall/Winter to wear with all the black looks I have. I love the quality of MCM, this is my second item from them … highly recommend if your considering.
SUNGLASSES
I should be embarrassed to admit how many pairs of sunglasses I’ve bought this year but they are my favorite accessory. I have super sensitive eyes so I’m always wearing sunglasses even during overcast.
I get a lot of my sunglasses from Amazon so these were a splurge for me, they were 100% worth it. These are hands down my most favorite pair of sunglasses, they really add the cool factor.

These are Gucci dupes I found on Amazon, this is my second pair. I also have the black and fur style … def considering the real depending how much I wear them.
Go a half size up. I wear an 8-8.5 and got a 9.

The style I’m wearing is old from H&M, I did have to go two sizes up for a slouchy look then have the waist taken in. This look can be achieved by thrifting men’s trousers as well.

This is the same style as above but with gold lenses and rim. These are cool but I highly prefer the black.

One of my favorite and most worn pair of jeans. After wearing this pair a couple of times a week weekly for a couple of months I went ahead and purchased the black pair as well.
They only come in every other size, get your TTS or a size down if in between.

These are old from Madewell, I got my TTS. Sorry but I do not know the style name. They are high waisted with a 9.5″ rise if you want to try to make them out of jeans.

This style is old but I have the updated version from the same brand. TTS, comfortable and easy to walk in.

SNEAKERS
These are my white sneakers I bought for last F/W, they are still in strong rotation. They’re just a good classic silhouette. I keep them clean with Folex carpet cleaner. I spray them down, let it sit, scrub with a scrub brush, wash them in the washing machine then let them air dry.
